San Francisco · Craftsman house
A San Francisco Craftsman, brightened without losing its bones.

The brick fireplace was painted white, with every detail of the brickwork intact, and is now the brightest thing in the living room. The kitchen was rebuilt in white cabinets and open shelves, with black steel windows, black-and-white cement tile and a bench along the window wall.
A few rooms went darker on purpose. The dining room sits under a black ceiling and a brass chandelier, and the powder room is black, with a gold crescent mirror. The checkerboard shower became glazed blue-green tile under a skylight, with brass fittings.
