About us
Two founders. Every room, start to finish.
Stanza is an interior design studio in Austin and San Francisco: Preston Silverman and Sunthar Premakumar. We design every room of your house with you, order everything in it, and stay on it until the last piece arrives. Nobody hands you off.

How we got here
We’ve worked on both sides of a house.
Between us, we’ve run a contracting company, built and sold a startup, and led product and operations at fast-growing companies. We’ve also worked on the owner’s side of custom homes in Marfa, Texas, the Bay Area, Sonoma and San Francisco.
Stanza is how we’d want it done for our own families: every room drawn and decided with you before anything is ordered, by the same two people who then order it.
The founders
The two people you’ll work with.
Preston started a contracting company at 19 and grew it to seven cities, then built and sold a venture-backed startup, acquired in 2020. He came back to houses on the owner’s side.
He renovated and furnished his own house in Austin, the one in our work, and designed the guest rooms at Gruene River Inn and Hacienda del Río.
Sunthar is a Stanford-trained engineer who spent a decade leading product and operations at fast-growing companies, from ed-tech to real estate.
On your house he runs the file: the drawings, the Selection Calendar and every order, from the first plan to the last delivery.
What that means for you
A small studio, on purpose.
Nobody to hand you off to
You talk to the people drawing your rooms and placing your orders, from the first call to the last delivery.
A few houses at a time
We take on 4 new houses a quarter, so we draw every room of yours ourselves.
Your taste, not ours
We start from the house and the people in it, not a look of our own: three options for every decision, and the one we’d choose.
Answerable for every piece
We order the furniture, lighting and decor, see each piece to your door, and make the claim if something arrives damaged.
